Kinomé, the Peruvian field NGO A.I.D.E.R. and their partner Astris Finance are implementing a project of conservation of the dry forest of Piura region.

On the 24th of January, the A.I.D.E.R. team gathered with the village of Ternique to sign the Conservation agreement between the community and the project’s execution partners.

This agreement materializes the commitment of Ternique’s habitants to protect 4 762 trees in exchange of the repairing of the solar pump which provided water to the village. Without this project, the community would have had to wait until 2021 to use again the wells, since the support of the municipality is very limited.

After signing the agreement, the A.I.D.E.R. engineer trained the habitants to the key concepts of natural assisted regeneration, in particular building protection circles : barriers will be installed around the trees in order to prevent the goats and other cattle of the area from eating the seedlings. Thus, the tree protection could begin.
