There is no sustainable, large-scale environmental impact without social impact.
Social impact is the result of individual
and collective awareness, evolution and action.
Kinome means "the eye of the tree" in Japanese
Since 2005, trees have inspired us and brought us practical solutions to improve the daily life of the greatest number of people possible, in the fields of water access and food quality, health, employment, innovation, resilience and adaptation to climate change, and education. More than 2 million people have already benefited from our project worldwide.
Vision
Our challenge:
Kinomé is a Kinomé is a social business (ESUS agreement granted by the French administration) founded in 2005 by Nicolas Métro to respond to the global challenge of deforestation by changing the way humans look at nature and themselves, and by creating new models of human and economic development.
Our vision:
to create a world where every human being, starting with children, is able to realize their full potential through the preservation, restoration and valorization of nature.
Our purpose:
to improve the daily lives of as many people as possible.
Our theory of change:
understand, act and grow by nature.
Our four missions:
To better understand the human potential and the potential of nature, particularly that of the forest
Creating strategies with a positive impact on people, the earth and the climate, linked to the realities of the field; measuring and constantly improving these impacts
Uniting all the stakeholders of a territory or a sector to trigger a systemic change generating positive social and environmental impacts
Empowering as many people as possible to take action

Our engineering: Ethical Leadership (ELS)
From the life of local populations to global economic strategy: putting humans and nature at the heart of a new development model
For 17 years, Kinomé has been developing and applying expertise in human evolution and economic development. Kinomé is based on the engineering of Ethical Leadership, a dynamic of evolution and global action created by Edel Gött.
Accessible to all, Ethical Leadership helps us understand human functioning and to work on our “savoir-être,” or soft skills, to make our know-how more efficient. By soft skills, we mean the way we look at ourselves and at others, and the quality of the relationships we build with them. This translates into positive impacts on the concrete daily lives of people in the field, leading to a real paradigm shift for companies, governments, institutions and NGOs.
In concrete terms, all our projects are based on the identification and satisfaction of the 7 fundamental and universal human needs:
to be in good health
to live in balance&
and well-being
to be safe
to be respected
to have access to knowledge
to feel included and to include, not exclude
to be fulfilled and to be able to carry out a quality project

These needs are expressed differently but are found in all territories and cultures, and make it possible to break down silos and create a common ground between all the stakeholders of a project.

Scientific Committee
Kinomé is surrounded by a scientific committee chaired by Cindy Morris – Research Director at INRA with the support of Nathalie de Noblet and Véronique Chabernaud. This committee allows us to refine our expertise in areas such as climate, nutrition or education and to enrich current scientific models with concrete data from our field projects. The scientific committee guides our actions in order to rigorously monitor the impacts generated while optimizing them.
